WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF WOODSTOCK GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE
Woodstock Girls Softball League is a fastpitch, recreational, no cut softball league for girls between the ages of 5–14 and divided into six divisions: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U & 14U. Players are residents of the City of Woodstock, Illinois and the surrounding Community Unit School District 200 area. Practices and games are held on fields owned and maintained by the City of Woodstock. The league follows the rules of the Amateur Softball Association of America(ASA).
Registration for our league begins online around January 1st. Practices begin in April, and a minimum twelve game schedule runs from May through the end of June. Games are played on weeknights and some Saturday's. Currently, WGSL is participating in the Northern Illinois Softball League (NISA) for 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U divisions. The 6U division is strictly instructional and will play scrimmage games scheduled with other NISA 6U teams.
Players playing on high school teams must comply with IHSA rules, and cannot play or practice with WGSL during the IHSA season. These divisions will begin the season at the conclusion of each high school's respective IHSA seasons. Practices will be held for non-IHSA players during this time, and will begin in late May. A twelve game schedule will be played in the month of June.
Registration fees include team jersey and socks. Each player is required to participate in the league fundraiser. There is an additional registration fee for players not residing in the Woodstock city limits. Players need to purchase their own gloves, softball pants, fielding mask, bat and helmet.
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which relies heavily on donations and sponsorship. Our Program is run by a group of very dedicated volunteers. The men and women who comprise our Board of Directors, Division Representatives, and coaches work tirelessly year round to ensure an enjoyable experience will be had by all. If you wish to contribute to the Softball Program, please email a member of our Executive Board or to the WGSL e-mail.
